  • bypassing Canon Vixia 3rd party battery errors

Our media program purchased ten Canon Vixia HF200 cameras in November 2009 and we also purchased 10 Pearstone Li-ion Battery Packs from B&H. The front of the battery packs state the battery will replace the Canon batteries models BP-808A and BP-809. We are currently using Canon model BP-808A and purchased the Pearstones as extras for each camera. However, after testing one of the Pearstone batteries to use this weekend, the Canon camera stated it could not communicate with that model battery. Even while charging the red light on the camera continued to blink. Is anyone using third party batteries with their Canon Vixia camcorders without having error messaages? I’ve been told that there is a bypass feature on every consumer camera that allows you to bypass the manufacturers design that mandates using only their proprietary battery. Appreciate the help. Thanks
