Blend or Interpolate fields?
My objective is to produce a PAL DVD. The online help suggests blend if the image is slow moving or relatively static and interpolate if there is fast motion.
I then rendered out a blended and interpolated event from the timeline of a speed skating edit, and compared them, but I can’t visually spot the difference. I then googled the topic and came across this:
Blend will indeed keep more vertical information, that is until the image starts to move. Then you are taking two fields, which were taken at different moments in time, and blending them together. This “smears” the video in relation to time and also produces ghosting of the image because of the temporal difference. Don’t use blending unless the image is static.
If I understand this correctly, I should use interpolate.
