Now what did I do? Been working on this project for a week, everything fine. All of a sudden in the Preview there is a black bar at the top. Where did it come from? Wasn’t there before as I am careful to match settings at the beginning. What did I do – so I don’t do it again – and how do I get rid of it?

Can you post a screen shot of what you are seeing? It’s really had to know what you are referring to without seeing it.

    Don’t feel bad… it’s not that obvious. 😉

You can use the PrintScrn key on your PC keyboard to capture whatever is showing on your desktop to the clipboard. Then you can use a program like the free Paint program that comes with Windows to Paste the image and then Save As a JPG or PNG file. Then you can upload that to the Creative COW with this button:

    and follow these directions:

I appreciate your help on this, but when I couldn’t fix it I basically dumped everything and started over. It is a small training video, so it was not a big deal to do that. But now I can’t replicate the problem. Here’s what I’m thinking though. Perhaps it is a problem after I have uploaded the video from the camera. It is in an AVCHD file that I convert to AVI and import that into Sony Vegas. I then edit with the AVI format and replace with the AVCHD to render. So I’m still not sure what the settings should be to do that. Do I match the source or what?

I would use DV Widescreen AVI proxies. It sounds like you could benefit from a tool like my VASST GearShift. It will do all of the proxy rendering a swapping for you.
