    Hi Everyone,

Ive been searching threads and Google but Im not sure I have a good answer to this so I really appreciate any advice.

I have an AVI that I recieved. It’s of my band performing. What I want to is put it in Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 and edit it. Basically it has other bands in the footage I want to get rid of and also I want to fix some audio issues.

What is the best way I can get an AVI into my version of Final Cut?

    p.s. I also have Quicktime 7.1.3 Pro

    Thanks for any advice!

Does the AVI open on the Mac in QuickTime?

If it does then check the AVI resolution and frame rate, if it matches you editing setup, then you can export from QuickTime Pro to the desired FCP codec/playback setting.

    If it doesn

    Hi Everyone,

The file will not play in Quicktime… it is 44.1MB.

I tried opening it with MPEG Streamclip and it only plays the audio.

It does play fine in VLC.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks so much.

    Hi Everyone,

I’m still struggling to do this. I don’t own compressor and even if I wanted to upgrade I would need to order it and have it sent to me (because I am in Germany now)… and considering nothing else has worked I’m reluctant to spend the $200.

Strangely I even tried SnapzPro to record the video window but it came out all mangled… why?

I really want to have this AVI converted to something I can edit and use.

    Thanks again for any advice!

    Hello
Alternatively you can try downloading and installing something called Perian_0.5
    from versiontracker.com.

It says that it will allow QuickTime to open a lot of types of AVI. If it works then go back to the suggestions listed in previous posts for exporting.

Please be aware that I haven

    Hi Guys,

I tried exporting it to .mov but it didnt work… it did the export, then the file was called sample.mov and opened in Quicktime but when I tried to import it into FCP it have me a File Error… any ideas here?

    Thanks thanks!
