Best /Fastest Download Option
Posted by Frank Giardina on May 16, 2011 at 7:23 pmHi Everyone
If one had to download 100GB or more of footage from UMDA compact flash cards relatively fast, what would be the best/fastest options?

May 16, 2011 at 8:16 pmDepends to where but the fastest transfer I’ve seen yet are the Sandisk Firewire 800 readers.

Thanks Noah!

May 16, 2011 at 9:39 pmI meant- the destination being a FW800 or USB only compatible computer. Some laptops do not have FW800. But if you do, that’s what you want until eSATA, USB3 or Thunderbolt come around of course. 🙂

May 16, 2011 at 9:53 pmYes, Thunderbolt….I was reading about that today actually. I do have a FireWire 800 port on my iMac. I have a couple back to back events coming up… looks like I’ll be doing some downloading during the first event, or not getting much sleep between… or if I find $500 I can get more cards 🙂

May 17, 2011 at 7:20 amI don’t think the SanDiskFW800 or Lexar FW800 card readers are available anymore. Online shops seem to have them marked as “out of stock” or “no longer available”.
