Azden SGM 1x – No Getting Sound
Posted by Engel Sanchez on June 29, 2009 at 6:42 pmI have a problem with a new just bought Azden SGM 1x.
I am not getting audio. I am conecting it to my HV30 with a Hosa Technology MIT-156 XLR Female to Stereo 1/8″ Miniplug Male Connector.
I have test many batteries, and nothing. The battery look to be well placed.
Any tips?

June 29, 2009 at 10:22 pmHave you adjusted the audio level up in the camera menus? If not, try that. Also, there might be a switch to go between the built-in and external mic, although, it’s probably a mechanical switch in the mic-in connector. Here’s a link to the page with the camera instruction manual. https://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=177&modelid=16206#DownloadDetailAct

June 30, 2009 at 2:53 amHello Engel and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.
As you have discovered, most people are disappointed when they they to plug a MONO mic into a STEREO input. In order to achieve success, you need either a cable that will put the mic on one of two channels or on both of them.
Which do you prefer?

May 27, 2011 at 1:47 amI bought the azden sgm 1x for my canon 7d. It plugs in fine but I can barely hear anything from it and it’s very scratchy. I figured well it might me the mic so I plug it in my computer and it works fine. So I think oh crap my camera is broke. So I plug a different mic in my camera and it works fine. They both work fine until you marry them up. Anyone have any ideas?
