Audio Video out of synch on import
Hello, a new problem just popped up for me. I was importing footage from my Sony HVR-Z1U camera, and the synch is way off. I slid the audio tracks to synch up, and then as I started working more, it became apparent that there were synch problems throughout. In other words, I matched up the audio, and then a minute down the timeline, it was out of synch again. I repeated this process several times, and then decided to recapture the footage. The problem was worse with the second time.
The synch in various places can be off as much as 6 seconds. The second time I digitized video, the video finishes at 19 minutes on the timeline, and the audio finishes at 22:45.
While I don’t consider myself an FCP expert, I’ve been editing on my system for 3 years, and have completed 7 videos of various lengths on the last two weeks. I don’t believe I did anything different this time, when digitizing my footage, so I’m completely confused. I also tried digitizing a different tape after this problem cropped up, and got the same synch problems… And this is the first time this has ever happened to me.
I did uncheck the Abort capture on dropped frames box in User Preferences, since on this tape it was dumping out and saving nothing every time I tried to capture. I use log and capture, and then “capture now”
Am using Final Cut Pro 7.0.3, Mac OS X, version 10.6.4 on a Mac Pro4,1 Quad Core 2.26GHz, 6GB memory. My scratch disk is set to a 3TB external drive.
Please help!
Thanks
Andy
