  • Audio out of sync in preview?

Posted by Al Kohout on August 19, 2007 at 11:25 pm

Premier Pro is at use on a regular basis our studio. and this questions really baffles me

I wish to see and hear REAL TIME preview on an external monitor when editing in PP2. While we do see video on our external monitor, the audio is not in sync. Yet it IS in sync on the timeline when we view the monitor in the timeline preview window.

Is there something not set correctly?

Our set up is PP2 using a Matrox rtx100 card, if that matters. The firewire is coming out of the rtx 100 card to a DV recorder which then outputs is signal to the external monitor

All advice is welcome as it drive me crazy to have to edit and review videos in a 4 inch screen

Our other NLE (Velocity) has no problem outputting a real-time audio/video preview.

Are you playing back the audio on the computer? or via firewire to the external monitor?

Firewire out of card to DV deck–see below—

Our set up is PP2 using a Matrox rtx100 card, if that matters.

The firewire is coming out of the rtx 100 card to a DV recorder which then outputs is signal VIA RCA cables to the external monitor

    Thank you

Have you selected audio to play back on dv hardware in your playback settings, and are you monitoring the firewire audio playback?

If you search, Steve Gotz has advice in this forum on how to change the windows firewire driver to sync playback on the computer monitors and via firewire.

So I guess the good news is that your problem can be solved – this is an issue with your setup and playback, rather than anything intrinsic / difficult …

well…the audio is running from firewire to the dv deck which then runs to the external video monitor for video and external speakers for audio (from the deck)…

I belive this then answers your question–yes..I am monioting tghe firewire audio..(or so I think I am)

    one more thing…

when I record to a dv tape from PP2 the audio is in perfect sync..

so it must be a delay from the deck out???

    how can I fix this?

I was just going to ask you if you can make a good tape via FW, What kind of deck are you using?
