    Audio Files for cell phone playback in a museum exhibit

    I’m using Final Cut to edit audio files that need to end up
    as 8-bit, mono .mp3 files at 8000 Hz. (It’s for a system called
    Guide by Cell where visitors to the exhibit call a number on their
    cell phone to hear audio about the work of art they are viewing.)

    I’m using Compressor to encode the .mp3 files by choosing the
    “podcast” option but I’m not seeing choices for 8-bit or 8000 Hz.
    Any ideas?

    You can do the whole thing, edit and then make the mp3 files using free software like Audacity. It lets you set the bit depth and sample rate and then the mp3 data rate.

    FCP is not a very good audio editor and having to use it plus Compressor seems like a messy idea to me.
