    Hi Vegas Pros,

I have just completed building my first computer and was wondering what other Sony Vegas users are using for monitors these days. So far the Asus PA246Q has a lot of good reviews. I’ll be using it for Sony Vegas and Photoshop. Any comments and recommendations will be helpful.

    Thanks

I picked up an HP 23″ IPS LED monitor directly from HP for $187. It’s not a high-end IPS monitor, but it’s probably the best bang-for-the-buck LED you’ll find.

I have 2 ASUS ProArt PA246Q’s and I love ’em. Extremely accurate color reproduction and you get the calibration report direct from the factory so you know exactly what you’re getting. Very impressive displays for the price.

    Hi Guys,
Thanks for responding and John, that’s the monitor I’m leaning towards, the Asus PA246Q. I called B&H and talked to a sales rep who tried to talk me into buying a NEC monitor for around $800. As soon as B&H reopen from passover, I’ll probably order the Asus. John, I know you used a different case, I bought a corsair 650D which I love. I can’t wait to crank this puppy up.

    Here’s my system:
    Corsair 650D case
    Corsair AX850 Power Supply
    Asus P9X79 PRO Motherboard
    CPU: Intel Core I7 3930K 3.2GHz
Cooling System: Corsair H100 liquid cooling
    32 GB RAM
Video Card: Nvidia Quadro 4000 Card
Optical Drive: Pioneer Combo Drive for Blue Ray, Burning, Reading and Dual Layer.
Crucial 256GB Solid State Drive (SSD) for Operating System only
Western Digital 1TB 10,000 RPM Hard Drive for my Programs
Western Digital 1TB 7,200 RPM Hard Drive for my Music
Western Digital 2TB 7,200 RPM Hard Drive for my Photos and Video
External Thermaltake HUB and Western Digital 1TB 7,200 RPM Hard Drive for Misc.

[Ralph Hajik] ” I called B&H and talked to a sales rep who tried to talk me into buying a NEC monitor for around $800.”

Other than being $300 more, did he say why the NEC was better? It could be a better monitor at that price. I was buying two and wanted to stay around $1000 so that’s why I selected $500 monitors. Obviously there are better monitors for more money, but not better monitors for the price. So the NEC could be better. I just love my PA246Q’s.

That looks like a killer system. The 650D looks like a nice case. I keep my tower on my desktop so having the controls on top is inconvenient for me but if you keep your tower on the floor that’s a nice design. Good luck with it.

    Hi John,
I don’t know what his thinking was. I thinking that I can buy 2 Asus ProArt PA246Q monitors for the price of 1 NEC or even an EIZO monitor. If you and Thayalan are satisfied with the Asus monitors, then I’ll go with that and order 1 to start. According to the specs, it seems like a great monitor for the money.
