After Effects for Cartoons Animation ?

For traditional cell-style animation there are lots of dedicated programs that will be more suited than After Effects. But many animators use a combination of programs. They might do their character animation in one, but then composite the characters, backgrounds and effects using After Effects.

Archer is made using AE (as are some others).
Some shows are made with Flash.
Some use Toon Boom.
Some use C4D (or other 3d apps) and shade it to look 2d.

You can use AE for sure. There are several great tools out there, but the best I found so far is duik tools and it’s free.

For real life physics- Newton, you have to pay a fee but it’s totally worth it.

No matter what software you use though, this tends to be done by a team of people and not just one person.

The example you posted can be done in several 3D packages. C4D can certainly do this.
Like Michael mentioned though, this kind of work is usually done by teams, due to the amount of work involved.
