Advanced Trapcode Particular / camera / 3d – Question
Good afternoon.
I’m having some issues with a fairly complicated after effects scene. Let me first explain the setup and then the problem.
I have a png of a product (in 3d space). Around which I have setup lots of particular ‘Bee type’ swarms flying around the product. I’ve duplicated each ‘particular swarm’ and set the near and far vanishing levels so the ‘product’ lives in middle. (with out the vanishing tweaks..the particular swarm would show up on top of the product when it should be behind it)…
My Particular setup..
The swarms are setup with a ‘null’ in the centre of the scene. Its is spinning 360 degree. There is a layer attached to that which is further out (like a planet orbiting the sun). Trapcode particular is used this layer as the emitter… Everything is in 3d mode (except particular which has to be a 2D layer)This is all works fine…
THE PROBLEM:Now the problem. is when I zoom to far out or in with the camera…suddenly the two levels of particular will just and appear either fully behind or in front of the product.
I’m assuming I need to somehow link the ‘vanishing’ point for both top and bottom layers of Particular to some value to do with the camera….
Any help the forum can give would be wonderful.
•Layers (simplified a little):
– ‘Trapcode Particular’ layer. swooping around 360 leaving a trail.
Vanishing values:
Far Vanish = 1800
Far Start Fade = 700
Near Start Fade = 1
Near Vanish = 0– a solid in 3d space.
– ‘Trapcode Particular’ layer. swooping around 360 leaving a trail.
Vanishing values:
Far Vanish = 20000
Far Start Fade = 800
Near Start Fade = 91
Near Vanish = 1800….
Sorry if this is fairly obvious and I’m giving far too much detail…

Why not use your product image as an obscuration layer?
