January 4, 2010 at 1:35 amThis is a bug with 64-bit Vegas 9.0c, not a problem with AVCHD or the camera. Use the 32-bit version as a workaround until Sony fixes the bug. I’ve reported it, but it’s probably a good idea to send in another report to give the issue more weight.

January 4, 2010 at 2:54 amHey Douglass,
I actually tried it out and it works pretty good. Obviously not the ideal solution but it will work for now.
Thanks!

So… the lesson learned here is that when you get a new camera, you should go out and shoot for a day using the different modes and come back and edit some of it and make sure that you understand the best way to use the camera before using it for anything serious (like vacation memories).
I came across an application called VoltaicHD that is supposed to convert AVCHD Lite into something editable. Not sure how well it works since I have no footage to try it with. I also read of someone using Cineform NeoScene. You could download a trial of that and test too.

January 4, 2010 at 4:21 pmThanks, I’ll try downgrading or changing to 32Bit to see if that helps!

January 5, 2010 at 4:40 amI also have a panasonic lumix, and the AVCHD lite files work fine on the trial version of vegas movie studio platinum 9.0b that I recently downloaded.

February 3, 2010 at 3:59 pmI can confirm the OP’s problem.
Both 32 and 64 bit versions of Vegas 9.0c are affected.
Earlier versions are fine.
There are no settings that I can make that will render without this flickering. Actually, it’s not really ‘render’, it’s the way Vegas plays AVCHD. You can see the problem just by playing the timeline. If you step through a frame at a time, you can see the picture dim every so often, with broad diagonal stripes. At normal play speed it looks an awful lot like a copy of a Macrovision protected VHS tape (so I’m told!).Something happened in the 9.0c release to cause this because, as I say, version 9.0 – which I’m having to use – works perfectly.

March 7, 2010 at 7:33 amI’m running on windows 7 64bit. I am also having this exact same issue. I even get the flickering in the preview screen.
Vegas 9c seem to use a different plugin to render .mts files.
Here is what I get for the render information on the same .mts file on 9c :
Name: compoundplug.dll
Folder: C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 9.0\FileIO Plug-Ins\compoundplug
Format: MPEG-2 Transport Stream
Version: Version 1.0 (Build 226) 64-bitand here is the information on the plugin in 9b with the exact same .mts file. That version is working OK with .mts files.
Name: m2tsplug.dll
Folder: C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 9.0\FileIO Plug-Ins\m2tsplug
Format: Sony M2TS
Version: Version 1.0 (Build 2577)The solution for me was to roll down to 9b. Hope we get a fix soon.

March 11, 2010 at 6:46 pmI’ve received an update from sonymediasoftware. They are saying that the issue is comming from AVCHD lite files only and they say this is not an issue on the version 9c 32bit. I’ve not been able to test this.
They are currently working on the issue and they are now aware of it.

March 21, 2010 at 5:46 pmFYI,
I was having the flickering/pulsing on ACVHD lite video as well on a 64 bit windows laptop (64 bit Vegas as well). Rendering same project at the moment on a 32 bit desktop and not seeing the issue.
I’ve not tried running the 32 bit Vegas on the 64 bit machine as I am just trying to get my current project finished!
