    Hey guys
I don’t know if this should go on the FCP thread or the 7d thread but I figure more reponses will be here bc I figure others who use the 7d know what I am doing wrong.
Okay so I shot everything with the 7d in 1080 at 24p. So when I set up my timeline settings I did the 1080i 24p option. Now, some of the movie I shot at 60p. Some of that 60p I took to cinema tools and changed it to 24p… either way it doesn’t matter… no matter if the footage has been slo motioned or if it is just 60p at normal speed it is not the same size as the 24p (obviously) in my viewer window. What do I need to do? Do I just move the “scale” bar up until the images are the same size? Seems like there must be a more precise way of making sure it is the same size…
    thanks

I figure that you need to get it all to the smaller size right? Down converting the 1080 seems to be a better plan than up converting the smaller video…

FCP is a pig at scaling pictures. I’d run it through Compressor to the correct frame size

yeah i’d really like to leave it at 1080 rather than scale it to 720… so how do i go about using compressor to move the 60p stuff to the right size?

Use a preset in Compressor that matches the other material… There’s probably preset already in Compressor., but I”d test it first. Take the 720 material to 1080 and see if it’s acceptable. If not down-convert the 1080 to 720… that will likely look ok. upresing is best done in hardware not software FWIW, and if the up-conversion doesn’t do you OK in Compressor, find a service bureau that has a terranix box… the top of the line boxes do a bang up job of this.
