  • 5.1 for DCP / BluRay / Files & Channel Mapping Questions

    Hello,
I am putting the final touches on a doc film I have been working on for 7+ years.
I have some Audio pro’s working on a DCP & BluRay mix / master.
While they are Audio Wizards in their own right they have not compiled Audio for the DCP or Blu Ray formats in the past… They are volunteering their time and need to do the exports for all formats at the same time as they are using some hybrid analog / digital process and it will be much more labor intensive to to go back to then to do it all now.

As such I was wondering if you could help me solidify exactly what is needed for both scenarios?

    DCP
I have found this info on DCP

    Audio:
Minimum 3 channels (Left,Right,Center) or 5.1 (L,R,C,LFE,LS,RS) – audio can be part of the QuickTime file, or provided as separate uncompressed mono 16 or 24 bit/48khz WAV or AIFF files.

    Audio Channel Mapping:
    1:Left 2:Right 3:Center 4:Subwoofer 5:Left Surround 6:Right Surround

So I guess if someone can “confirm that is 100% accurate that would be great.

    BLURAY // DVD
But I have found conflicting info for the BluRay / DVD tech specs.
It would appear that much of what I am seeing online is “outdated” and trying to resolve a workaround or two… So it is possible this is very straight forward but please any advice is greatly appreciated.

    BROADCAST
While I am on the subject would broadcast output differ from DCP and / or BLURAY

    ONLINE STREAMING
I am supposing that this should be a STEREO mix of the 5.1 or is that assumption incorrect?

    WHAT AM I MISSING?
What else should I be thinking about when it comes to Audio deliverable needs?
Would the above topics cover all my bases or???

Thanks so much in advance for all your help and suggestions!
