I have FC 6.0..6 so I don’t have the template for you tube.. I want to use compressor to reduce a 6gig video for utube.. in the settings tab way down at bottom (custom settings) there is a 16×9 H 264 for high band width.. I used that setting but my video is coming out in a couple different sizes (squeezed down a little) and the quality is bad.. do I use the geometry tab set to crop to 16×9?
I got one good conversion (a short test) which the codec says Linear PCM, H.264 but I cannot find that setting in inspector to redo it.

I would suggest forcing a size of 864×480 then upload.
youtube will recognize that as 16×9.

at least its a work around to get it done.

For Youtube I use 640X360 when using 16:9 video. That’s the size of the image on the site, so that’s why i use it.

As for Settings, once you drop the h.264 preset onto your video, in the inspector:

    Go to Encoder Pane:
Video settings: 30fps, set keyframes to automatic, and quality slider to High.
Audio settings: Set format to ACC, Channels to Mono, Rate to 48KHz, Render quality to Better, and target bitrate to 128kbps.

    Frame Controls Pane:
Click on the sprocket to turn on Frame Controls.
    Resize Filter: Better
    Output Fields: Progressive
    Deinterlace: Best
    Race Conversion: Better

    Geometry Pane:
    Dimensions: 640X360
    Pixel Aspect: Square

If you shot interlaced footage, deinterlacing will take a long time. If you shot progressive, Compressor doesn’t have to deinterlace, so the encode won’t take very long.

640×360 does work but I find sometimes that starting out
larger will yield a better looking result….thats been my experience.

Yea, you’re probably right, Chris. I just never had a problem with 640X360 ever since Youtube’s video quality became watch-able. Your logic definitely makes sense though.

my compressor has been crunching for 17 hours and the render bar has moved about 1/5th of the bar.. this is going to take about 3 days to finish.. I’ll have to try something else and sacrifice quality for time. thanks, Brad
