    Hello

Doesn’t FCS come with mpeg2? I have a mpeg2 muxed file I can’t open via QuickTime 7.5.5. but I can view it using VLC. I have downloaded this :30 commercial to be air.
The site states I need mpeg2 to open this file, which I thought I had.

    Any help on this one.

    Thanks.

The MPEG-2 playback component is part of the FCS install, but the format is not directly supported within Final Cut.

    Download MPGStreamclip.
You will be able to play the file or convert it to a QT movie.

I just tried MPEG Streamclip. Nothing happened, I dragged the file into it’s window & it was blank, but it acted as if there was video there. I then hit the play button, & it moved the positioning bar but the screen was blank. If it helps anyone I can upload a small portion of the clip.

I’m puzzled why a free download suck as VLC plays it back, but QuickTime on my desktop will not play it. It’s just a white screen. Which tells me I’m missing a CODEC.

    Thanks again.

You’re going to need to find out a lot more about this file. It’s not a standard MPEG-2 file. Where’d you get it from? How did it get into your computer?

    That’s a phone format.

The web site is protected. If they want you to use this material it should be delivered in a different format.

That’s what comes up when I try to export it from QT.
When I open it via command J within QT it says it’s a MPEG2 Muxed

    Thanks

How are you going to send it to me? You can’t email it. I’ll download it from somewhere if you like.
