Converting ProRes QT files to DV
I have captured about 4 hours of HDV footage as ProRes and would like to convert some of the quicktime files to DV for another editor to edit on a premier pro NLE. Is this possible?

Just put the clips in a DV sequence and export.

I tried a batch export and that seems to work. My settings are DV stream 16×9. I would put in a DV sequence and export but then that would be one big clip. I wanted to get smaller clips so they can bring them in to edit

Run all the clips individually through compressor.
Premiere on PC or mac?

premiere on a PC. Will compressor do a batch of a bunch of clips so I can run it while I sleep? -
Oh yeah it will.
You should find out what format they want. Most likely avi and not quicktime dv.
You also have to make sure the tc is going to hold up so you can match back. I know compressor passes the timecode with quicktime movies, just not sure about avi movies.
Try one and see. if it works, do them all.

I looked it up and Adobe will import DV-AVI (AVI) and QuickTime (MOV). Any suggestions on settings? I looked under Quicktime/uncompressed. Not real sure about this.

Don’t export as DV stream (.DV) because that is the kind of files used by iMovie. I don’t know if Premier will be able even to open then, but even in FC needs to be rendered.
I don’t work with PCs but I think the best option is what I sayd before. Just put then in a DV sequence (time-line I mean, not .DV) and export as .mov with the NTSC DVCpro?DV codec.
You don’t need to care even about field order. FC will set the “shift-fields” filter.
And to get smaller clips, just chop, chop, chop…Mac OX 10.5.2-FC 6.02-QT 7.4.1

Make a new Quicktime Movie preset in compressor and change the video settings to dv/dvcpro Ntsc and the audio to 48k 16bit stereo.
You should ask them FIRST if they want avi or qt.

I made a new preset for in compressor. QT 16×9 and that worked pretty well. Im sending a test clip to them to see if they can import it. It was pretty quick in the conversion of a 30 sec. clip so I hope a batch of several wouldn’t take to long to do.

After soing several conversions my results are not good. I get a lot of jaggies or wavy lines in the QT video. Any settings I should try?
