    Here’s our scenario:

Our footage is shot with the HVX and it needs to be composited in After Effects (Windows XP). We have a FCP5 system but my experience on it is minimal (I’m an AVID guy).

I know the workflow is P2 -> FCP -> Quicktime -> AE7, but I need help with the import/export settings in the FCP. Bottom line is that several clips were prepped for me, but the quality was very poor; my theory is that data is being lost via an improper conversion.

Can someone post suggested FCP settings? Also should I assume that the Animation codec is the best lossless export option? I know that’s alot to ask, but ANY help is appreciated.

If this is detailed elsewhere please post the link; I’ve been searching all day but I’m getting nowhere…

The problem is that there’s no DVCPRo HD codec for windows. You should import the p2 on a windows machine and i think you need something called raylight to do it.

If I understand Raylight correctly, it means that I can manipulate P2 media in after effects running on XP?

Looks like it. I haven’t used it as I work exclusively in OSX/FCP.

I tested it this morning and yes, the After effects PC read the avi files created by Raylight. Thanks a million!
