Help! AJA Kona output to hdcam gives nothing but noise and ghosted image.
Not sure what to do, any ideas? thanks.

What format are you working in. Please give way more info. We have no idea what you are trying to do except you have a Kona and an HDCam deck? Format, frame rate of project intended output would help a bit.

Make sure the deck you are using has HD reference /sync.
If you do not have an external HD reference /sync unit, set up the HD deck (in the deck
menu) for internal reference.Check if the deck loopthough is good goint to your HD monitor. If the loopthrough is
good and you only get the issues on tape, most likely is a reference / sync issue.Good Luck!

I have set the deck to int ref sync.Getting the same noise through the monitor. makinbg me think it’s not the tape.
The project was shot on HDV 1080 50, edited on and HD timeline, I’m trying to out put it to 1080 50i (have also tried 25p). Have renderd several versions of timeline. Still no luck.
Any ideas?Cheers from the U.K

Yes I have done, aswell as other options. However there is no 1080 50i option, so I have tried using 1080i/25, . Am I wrongly presuming tius is the same thing? If so how do I export 1080/50i.
also the Kona control panel Frame buffer always switches to DVCProHD50. Think this may not be helping matters? -
Hey, helpful link, but still no joy. ouptu loop looks good, just geen pixelated noise and ghosting when I playback tape.
I have ref in, but, I’ve now set the servo/av reference on the deck to AUT01, which, according to the manual should switch to an internal reference signal if the OUTREF is not connected,
still no joy, any more ideas? could it be clogged heads, i heard these thimgs clog up easy?

If you’re trying to output 10-bit through the Kona, try switching output to 8-bit.

Thanks Tom, Using 8-bit. .I kinda have it workin now, I can’t do a digital cut as that seems to cause the problems, now exporting it straight out as playback, luckily this film fest didn’t request clocks and piece kinda fades in. I Managed to manaually get the piece within 4 frames.
Using 8-bit.

Disable the preview on desktop in FCP.
