  • HD comp size question

Posted by Dave Hirschberg on October 16, 2006 at 1:18 pm

I need to do some 16X9 graphics and I am not sure what size to set the comp size to. The final output is NTSC DVD on a 16X9 HD TV. The tv pixel ratio is 1366 X 768 so do I create the comp size to match or select another size? Please help this is urgent.

    Thanks

    Dave

I would use the widescreen preset for NTSC. If you’re going to DVD then it’s the only way. It’s 720×480 with a Pixel Aspect Ratio of 1.2

    Cheer,

Thanks. Another question. Should I set up the comp at a higher comp size like 864 X 486 and then pre compose down or just work in the D1 Widescreen exclusively?

[Dave LaRonde] “Otherwise, 720×486 Widescreen is okay”

You mean 720×480 widescreen, yes? 🙂 Although compressors will take 486, I seem to recall a bit of softness with 486 with some.
