I am new to the After Effects program and I was wondering how to make a scoreboard in it, so that I can add it to a video that I can tell when to change the score for either team.

you would set the scores up as text layers then animate the text value as the score changes.

so you’d create a text layer and type 0 (zero) and set a keyframe for the text layer’s source text property. then at the point where one team scores, you’d change the text from 0 to whatever the new score is, ae will add a new keyframe to the source text property at that point. you’d just keep doing this process as you scrub through the game footage, then render that out.
