    Hello,

I am trying to install Vegas and face a problem that haven’t encountered in previous versions. The installer starts and after a few seconds it exits whithout any message whatsoever.

I checked the log file and the only problem I see is two lines at the end:
    “GetProductListDetails: customaction_x86.dll szDestinationPath C:TempSonyInstall_1vegas120customaction_x86.dll
GetProductListDetails: customaction_x86.dll Copy failed hr=00000002h”. Not sure if it’s relevant

The registry is clean of any previous installations

Running Windows 7 on a 64bit Dell laptop

Any help or hint would be very much appreciated

Disable any anti-virus or automatic backup or any software like that. I use to use backup software that did a continuous backup and it caused Vegas Pro install to fail because it was trying to backup files as Vegas was trying to install them. Since you have a Dell and Dell is noted for loading down their computers with bloatware, I’m guessing some program Dell put on your computer is causing the problem. There is a program called EndItAll2 that will kill everything but essential OS processes. That might help.

thanks, but it seems not to be the case. I have disabled Avast and no other programs are running. Even tried in safe mode and it does exactly the same.
What really bugs me is that no matter how much I google it I see no other similar case, ie. installer exiting whithout any message.
Other thank that the computer itself runs great and never had a problem with any 32 or 64 bit application

Right click on the installer and install/run as administrator….
    See if that helps.

You say you have a 64 bit laptop, so I am wondering if you have the 64 bit version of Win 7. That’s probably what you mean, but it doesn’t hurt to check.

Then something is conflicting with its installation,
but its hard to assess from here, which program is actually
    doing this.

maybe someone has kept the installation log? It is in C: Users XXX AppDataRoaming Sony.
I’d like to compare it with mine cause I think the error I posted above is the reason. Although in this case I have no clue why customaction_x86.dll cannot be copied

Why is your page file on the E: disk? How does a laptop even have an E: disk?

I have split the hard drive into two partitions and since letter D was assigned to the optical drive, the second partition was assigned the next available letter.
I then moved the page file there cause it has much more free space. Sure it has nothing to do with the specific problem
