Recreate Predator or Thermal Vision in After Effects
I’ve been using the rotobrush tool quite a lot recently in other projects after I realised just how good it has become. Which made me realise I’d better make a tutorial to demonstrate how to use it to help recreate a classic and iconic look.
The original Predator movie (released in 1987) used an Inframetrics thermal video scanner to record accurate thermal imaging. But thermal cameras remain very expensive so by combining Rotobrush 3 with the Colorama effect, I think you can get an acceptable substitute.
