Is there any way to automatically transcode what’s in a timeline to a trimmable codec?
(Like FCP 7 has been able to do for years and years, not to mention Avid …)

Yes, I’m aware of that, but it’s annoying because it requires you to reach for the mouse and select the “content” checkbox.

I wish there were a single keystroke for “Paste Attributes>Content”.

That’s not really “paste content” — that’s “paste sequence content” for when you’re inserting from a sequence.

I also would like to know if there’s a shortcut for “paste content”, meaning “paste attributes > content”.

But I don’t believe there is.

I have had the issue with both WAV and AIFF files.

And yes, I did end up having to rename the original files. I did NOT need to trash my prefs.

1. Delete ALL the “bad” imported audio clips from all your bins.
2. Change your easy setup to anything that has the right frame rate.
3. In Finder, RENAME all the files. It’s enough to just add a “B” or a “2” or whatever at the end. (I use a great free app called Name Changer, link below).
4. Now re-import them. Might be wise to test one first.

Ah …. figured it out …. for anyone else who’s in a hurry:

After Scene Detection, you have to “Split”
Then export the TIMELINE from the CONFORM tab as XML.

Wow, the Scene Detector is fantastic.
But I can’t seem to get the ‘cuts’ back into FCP.
I saved as EDL, but when I load that EDL in FCP, I get just one giant clip in the new sequence.
How do I get FCP to split the clip at each cut?
Or add markers or something?
Or is there a EDL->XML converter?

This is exactly the function I need; but this expression doesn’t work for me as expected.

I need to “remove” every 6th frame; I’m trying to get just these frames:
01 02 03 04 05 07 08 09 10 11 13 …
(remove 00 06 12… could also remove 01 07 13; they’re duplicates)

But these expression, with n=6 and frameToSkip=0 gives me:
01 11 21 31 41

In other words, it plays at 10x speed.

Am I missing something?

(I’m trying to “de-convert” NTSC back to PAL — every 6th frame is duplicated. Speeding up doesn’t work, because it skips the wrong frames.)
