btw, am I wrong, or is that an absurd way to animate….? (with the separate text/image comps) For the life of me, I cant think of any advantage to this method…

Maybe I just lucked out, but I exported my DVD footage using Streamclip to ProRes LT at size 640×478 and I’m able to edit it in FCP 7.

That’s exactly what I did and still have a mov clip that, when brought into FCP, requires rendering for playback. I’m at a loss…any other ideas?

OK — Streamclip export to DVCPRO50-NTSC didnt work — hmmm, time to try ProRes I suppose…let’s see…

Yeah, sorry I didnt address your audio comment. I meant to say in my previous post that I deleted the audio tracks to try and isolate the issue and still, with the vid track only, I had the render problem, so I doubt it was just audio.

I’m trying exactly what you said and ripping the dvd from streamclip instead of handbrake. fingers crossed outcome — we’ll know in a couple min. Didn’t go straight to prores tho — exporting to DV-NTSC. I’ll try prores if this doesnt work.

Thanks — I’m not even bothered by the file size, except to the extent that I thought it was giving me a non-edit friendly file. If the file size is normal, then what is the problem? (i.e. what must I do with my files so that I can import them into FCP and not see that cursed red render line)?
