Hi delete what you’ve done (ie a mask shape whatever) and start again from scratch. Pick up pen tool (top one in the drop down menu, when you left click next to the icon) and start to draw your shape again, but make sure you start off by drawing a diagonal line first and then it lets you draw straight lines in any direction.

If you draw a horizontal line first, it seems to get stuck drawing at right angle only.

XP, like Windows Me, supports ClearType. On LCD screens, ClearType offers a 300 percent higher than usual horizontal resolution, providing much clearer text than usual. To enable ClearType, perform the following steps.
1. Right-click the desktop and select Properties.
2. Click the Appearance tab.
3. Click Effects.
4. Under Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts, select ClearType.
5. Click OK.
6. Click OK on the main dialog box.
