October 14, 2015 at 12:56 am in reply to: samsung mp4 cant load into vegas movie studioAs far as I know, Sony Movie Studio can not support all kinds of MP4 filessince there are so many codec encoded to MP4. Have a try to change MP4 to MPEG-2, the most friendly video format for Sony Movie Studio.

It records 4K MOV files with H.264 codec, which is a final delivery codec that is incompatible with most NLEs including FCP 7, even FCP X. While, as we know, Apple ProRes Codec is the best editing video codec for Final Cur Pro, so if you wanna import Panasonic DMC-GH4 4K MP4/MOV files into FCP 7/X without any issue, you’d better encode Panasonic GH4 4K MOV/MP4 to Apple ProRes codec (1080p would be the best settings.) with a professional program.

Apple ProRes is Apple’s professional video codec which has been designed to work especially well as high-quality, high-performance editing codecs for Final Cut Pro. There are many types of Apple ProRes, for editing in FCP regardless of version, Apple ProRes 422 MOV is an ideal one. I used a professional tool to encode MXF videos into Apple ProRes.

August 10, 2015 at 3:04 am in reply to: How can I import MXF files to FCPX? MXF by sony xdcamI got my new camcorder named Canon XC10 which also recorded videos into MXF format. The problem is that I can not transfer Canon XC10 MXF to FCP X directly. After long time searching, I found a helpful workflow on editing MXF videos in FCP X natively. Hope it also can give you some hint. Good luck!

March 23, 2015 at 6:22 am in reply to: Sony XDCAM, XAVC flavors and FCPX compatibility?Fortunately for users of FCP, Apple have released an update to the Pro Video Formats available in Quicktime. However, according to users feedback, it currently looks like the support is meaningless. Users still can not transfer XAVC files into FCP for further editing smoothly.

Some guys recommend to download and install the XAVC Plug-in for Apple (PDZK-LT2) provided by Sony. However, this plug-in requires Final Cut Pro X 10.0.8 or higher for XAVC format. For those who can’t install the XAVC Plug-in correctly and Final Cut Pro 6 or FCP 7 users, there’s also an alternative way. Hope the information can be helpful to you.

Compared with AVCHD, I thought MP4 is more compatible with Vegas since AVCHD is highly compressed.Based on this thought, I recorded MP4 videos via Sony camcorder. However, the mp4 videos were played blurry after importing to Vegas. Some guys on professional forums told me that the problem lied on its codec. Finally, I need to rewrap MP4 videos to MPEG-2 so that Vegas can afford. That’s a huge work for me. Luckily, the tool supplied by those professional guys is much helpful. Save my life!

November 4, 2014 at 6:52 am in reply to: Sony vegas pro 13, only imports audio from .MOV files (PRORES 422(PROXY) 1920X1080 millions)One possible reason is that MOV is a native QuickTime file format which functions as a multimedia container file that contains one or more tracks, each of which stores a particular type of data that is difficult for Sony Vegas to keep and recognize so that you only got audio while importing MOV to Vegas.

October 21, 2014 at 1:50 am in reply to: Best format & containers to rip DVD and use in Sony Vegas? As far as I know,Sony vegas cannot handel DVD and DVD folders. I think you need to rip DVD into MPEG-2, the most compatible video format for Vegas so that Sony Vegas can support well.
