Using USB OVERDRIVE, you can assign to FCP left and right mouse wheel scrolling instead of up and down.
    Very handy !

Actually it seems to work better with larger numbers.
Attempting several combinations, I managed to lower the opacity of each face of the cube when hidden in the background.

Thank you for your quick answers.

I’d have loved understanding more precisly what I did but anyway it worked.

Long life to the cow !

    shame on me I put a “,” instead of a “.”

Anyway I don’t understand this expression : does it make a projection of the world’s z vector on the comp z vector ? So the resulting value would evolve between -1 and 1 ?

Yes actually, but I’d like the logo to disapear slightly before that it does with this expression, otherwise it can be seen trought the cube, because of the perspective.

I thought replacing the 0 of your expression by 0,1 for instance would do the job :
    if ( toCompVec([0,0,1])[2] > 0,1 ) 100 else 0

    But that wouldn’t work…

Thanx for the quick response by the way !

    Hi,

I’m trying to do quite the same thing : I created a cube and placed logos on each face of it.
The cube is rotating around its x and y axis. I want the opacity of each logos to be full when the camera faces them and to be null the rest of the time.

May 10, 2010 at 12:53 pm in reply to: Converting 3D position to 2D ?

    Hi,

I’ve got quite the same problem :
I created a cube from 6 2D layers textured and bump mapped with the CC Glass effect (anchor point at the center of the cube).

Inside of that cube, I created a point light that wiggles.
I want the property “light position” from the CC Glass effect to vary according to the light in the 3D space.

note : the light layer stands in a HD comp (no square pixels, 1440×1080) and the comp containing each face of the cube stand in a square pixels comp (1080×1080).

Hope I’ve been clear enough, and sorry for my english !

I’ll try to upgrade (I thought I was already up to date !).

Thank you very much for responding so quickly !

Same problem concerning coords import from AE CS4 to particle illusion 3.0.1.
It works using your textedit copy/paste trick and deleting the “transform” part, but particle illusion misinterprets it.

    Anyone can help ?
