I understand the masked blur is done on a copy of say V1 clip to V2. Correct?
Any reduced opacity needed? Any shift by some frames of the V2 copy needed?

As far as I’ve found, it will NOT become as quick and easy as FCPX at this stage.
May be in subsequent versions.
I’ll be glad to learn otherwise though.

There’s a mismatch with what you wrote:

CC 2014.2 = v8.2
CC 2014.1 = v8.1

YOU are making the QC of the latest version.
If you don’t want that, just stay at least one version behind.
Especially behind x.0 versions.

OK, my bad. I’ve found my Bridge, but couldn’t find any info related to the Premiere Pro version which saved it.

Well I’ve found the answer elsewhere:
For text project files: check the version with a text editor. CS6 is version 25.
For binary project files: copy the project file to a file with extension zip, decompress with 7-zip to a text file and proceed as before.
