I found Roughen Edges under Effects > Stylize…. but where can I find Wiggle Paths?

There probably will only be 12-15 comps I need to do this for. I like the idea of just pulling the number from the name as well.

That’s a pretty clever idea. How do you add seedRandom to behavior? like Wiggle – gelatin. If I try to add an expression to wiggle amount lets say, I see effect("Wiggle - gelatin")(1) and if I add seedRandom(1,true); before that it doesn’t do anything.

you can use it to make a circle like… not a perfect circle with some organic quality to the path.

    This is a great script!

Ah cool! Opacity Flash — random didn’t really do much for me but I was able to use Wiggle – gelatin for something. Didn’t know about those.

Hmmm… that script didn’t work for me. Should < be <?

So there is no way to do something like the if else thing with 1 and 0 where else if 0 then 0 + time*.25second or something? Seems like all I’m wanting to do is control the off time… then I can slow down the random speed to make things more natural.

something like this could maybe work but I guess I’m still left with the same problem in that when it’s checked off I am still looking to control the length of time it’s off. with wiggle there was kind of a wide range of time based and with random it’s sort of like a short flicker. i’m basically trying to make an eye blink here randomly… my original wiggle was pretty close but the blinks were too long. this script now the blinks are a quick flickr. i trying to make a more natural random wiggle eye blink… not a spastic over-caffinated freak.

Yea, I have but I would like to have the off setting be less random and more of a defined time value.

  • That kind of makes sense. But what about something like an eye blink. Won’t it get a little tedious if there are 12 birds and I want some sense of random eye blinking to have to manually do that? Plus I don’t necessarily want all the characteristics to be synced up to the same loop even if I offset them in the timeline. I think I can probably simplify my needs here and do some of what you are saying like, flip & reposition… the piece is short enough where I could just do that manually but say… eye blink & bird tail pivot, and maybe beak open close… I think those would be best randomized.
