Okay here is a new one. Editing a sizzle reel off of a ripped DVD. Ripped the needed chapters with Mac the ripper. Used DVDxDV to convert the VOBs to quicktimes.

All the clips came in at 23.976. Progressive. Audio is in sync, all is well. Quicktime inspector says 23.98. Cinema Tools Analysis says 23.98 (reverse telecine, AND Conform are greyed out).

If I drag the clips into FCP. They come in as 29.97. So opened the files in QT and exported them in the same format at 23.976.

I bring them back into FCP, and 11 out of 14 work fine. 3 of them show a 23.98 framerate, but really play at 12fps. Meaning every frame is played twice. Audio is in sync, but image is not fluid.

If I bring the original file into FCP, the one that “claims” 29.97, the video is sped up (it’s like it conformed the 23.98 footage to 29.97) audio is out of sync.

Did the export with both QT, and compressor. Same 3 clips just don’t want to work.

Is there a way to read, and change a QT file’s metadata?
