I’ve had a not very fun week actually, because my entire system decided it wanted to screw me over at every turn. Now, I’m sure it was “human error” as HAL would say, I’d just like to know what I did that made it all crash around me. Especially considering, I hadn’t touched the damn thing; i.e. one day it’s working the next it’s not. Anyway, it’s fixed enough now for me to get the two simultaneous emergency deadline projects done in in FedEx by noon today.

At one point I was ready to pull a Patrick Bateman on this computer and run off to live as a technology hating hermit.

As reported by Mac|Life:

According to this document, CS4 (and the apps contained inside the package) is the only version of the CS family that will be fully supported in Snow Leopard.

As for CS2/3, Adobe didn’t test that software to see if it was fully compatible. Adobe also squashes any dream of them miraculously releasing updates for CS3 by letting us know that;
“Older versions of our creative software will not be updated to support Mac OS X Snow Leopard (v10.6).”

What about using the lens flare filter? I don’t really like the one that’s built into Motion because it only resembles what a flare might look like if directly facing into the camera. If the pic you posted is what you’re looking for the lens flare filter might be a nice touch. I just wish it would mimic what a lens flare does when at an angle, but there are a bunch of companies making more realistic lens flares.

I was going to get Snow Leopard (I even have my brand new drive waiting to have it installed – though I got it because of a massive breakdown in my system over all this past week) but I’ve been told that only CS4 will work in SL. Unfortunately, I can’t pay another $600 to buy an upgrade from Adobe CS3 to CS4 when CS4 has absolutely nothing new that I need. And, Adobe has no plans of making any patch or upgrade for CS3 to work in SL. Oh well, so much for 64bit OS-ing for me.

I, for one, am planning on getting a brand spanking new 10k RPM drive (Western Digital Raptor), to install everything from the ground up in my Mac Pro. I’ll have my original drive in air-tight storage just in case I need to go back. I’ll have Snow Leopard, the new Final Cut Suite, all my pro-apps and plug-ins running crazy fast!

Of course, this is all dependent on if I ever get any of my invoices paid. 🙁

In most cases, they go on the shelf instead of the tapes, which now get stored out of site. I admit our situation is unique, but it seems like a good solution for many instances just not all, for sure! 🙂

My feeling is that if each project has it’s own drive, there’s no need to media manage. Even when it come to archiving the project, really all it comes down to is properly storing your drive and nothing else. If your project fits fine on a drive then there’s no need to dump any footage. Besides, in he future there may be a use for the footage you didn’t use at first.
If you wanted to, you could always create an archive drive of finished projects by just exporting out self-contained QT files.
