    Thanks for your replies everyone!

    Michael,

Yeah, I’m planning to shove the tripod in with my clothes. Hopefully they don’t think it’s a rifle or something. Also, do you think I should take the Letus with me? That and the EX1 are the too biggest things I’m worried about, but I’m more worried that I would ruin the Letus by taking it with me, than just leaving it to be checked with the rest of the gear.

I also forgot to mention that I’m planning to lock the storm case with a TSA-approved lock. Do you think that will deter baggage handlers from trying to open up the case? Thanks!

Whoops. Guess I should have done a simple Google search before typing up that message:

Yes, they’ve confirmed that a new EX1 comes with the latest firmware. That’s pretty sucky for the early adopters who had to pay $100 to get it updated.

    Hey guys,

Thanks so much for your input. It’s definitely helped me to understand how the EX1 uses the SxS when recording. If you don’t mind me asking one more question (and I’m pretty sure this will be the last):

As I mentioned earlier, I am contemplating getting the MxM SDHC adapter to use in the EX1. From what I’ve read, in order to use these cards, the EX1 has to be updated with the latest firmware. Now, I don’t have an EX1 and will be getting one soon. However, once I get it, I won’t have time to ship it to Sony to update the firmware (I’m going out of the country at the end of the month). So, would the EX1 that I am about to buy have the latest firmware? If not, then I’m not going to bother getting the MxM cards. Any thoughts?

Thanks so much for helping me out. You guys are awesome!

    Jeremy,

Thanks! I didn’t know you could control the motion blur in those ways. For some reason, my Samples per Frame were set at 2. I have no idea why, but it was set that way. After correcting it, I got that nice motion blur that I love! Thanks a lot!

    Thanks everyone for the help!

Sam: That link is awesome and the author even did a commercial based on the same concept the client is looking for! Thanks for the awesome link!

Apok: Yeah, I didn’t exactly know what the technique was called. My boss had referred to it as rotoscoping, but I wasn’t sure if he was right or not as he’s not very familiar with Visual FX.

Anyway, this is some great information and I want to thank you guys for speedy, helpful responses!
