  • I re-installed ML and it restored my installer. Why it disappeared is a mystery. I’m glad pacifist app was available but it’s frustratingly slow.

  • I’m on a IMac 2.66 Ghz Intel Core i5 with 8GB Ram running 10.8.2
I was able to install FxFactory normally a few weeks ago and my OS hasn’t changed.

I d/l a 3rd party installer pacifist.app and that was able to install the package.
However that took at least 10 times longer than what FxFactory would install it in.
But at least I can get at the product I purchased.

  • Thanks Rafael. I was able to find folder CoreServices but there’s no ‘installer.app’ but a ‘install in progress.app’ and that one doesn’t open. I tied ‘open with ..’ but the ‘install in progress.app ‘is grayed out.

    Mystery and misery continues

  • Not one of the options. ‘Open with …’ is but with what?

  • I have done that several times.
I redid it after rebooting the Mac and deleting prior downloads.
I used Safari to d/l the zip file from Noise Industries. Safari decompresses the zip file. No difference. I d/l a picture of the file the link below

    5622_fxfactorypkg.jpg.zip

how do you install x264 into Mpeg? I do <3 Mpeg
I started using it to create HD videos. I discovered if you use multi-pass Mpeg goes into an infinite loop. This is a video 29 minutes long exported from FCP7 reference QT 1080i file. Single-pass looks great – https://vimeo.com/55735778

Wait .. next major release of X due any Tuesday.

  • Yes, using QT7 did what you said exactly.
It didn’t solve my problem in that what I really needed was to reconnect to my original source files. FCP did not recognize the QT file as original because attributes were changed.

But I persisted and was able to reconnect the media .. all I had to do as to point back to the -v & the -a files and FCP7 reconnected – a relief as I has about two hours of edits and they were not lost.

The problem did not occur with the ‘log & capture’ that I had done many times before. The split in this case was somehow done by STP. If I ever get the chance I’ll try to duplicate it.

    Good tip on using QT7!
I also discovered you can use Mpeg Streamclip to combine them. Simply highlight the two files [the -v and the -a] and open with Streamclip and was perfectly synched. You could also simply drop the two files in a new timeline sequence and FCP would replay them fine. But again the problem was in reconnecting to these versions FCP was unhappy that reel, rate [?] [and something about not enough media message] were changed.

I’ve been searching for an answer to a similar problem but no luck as all the answers line up as above. I want my audio to be independent of the clips above it. Right now I have all these ugly red boxes highlighting that my audio is out-of-sync with the clips. I don’t care in this case. I don’t want to ‘slip’ or ‘move’ into sync as it would mess up what I’ve done. Tips?
