Yes, some interlacing will occur when playing at 30 vs 24 (or 23.98 vs 23.98) when mastered in 24. But that doesn’t explain massive amounts of tearing when we switched from FCP 5.1.4 to FCP 6. It looks to me like a field order issue but that doesn’t seem to solve the problem in the sequence settings. Also, when scanned through frame by frame the ghost frames (interlaced frames) seem to have a gray/clear area on the monitor in or around the interlace tearing of the frames, which says to me that final cut is trying to make information up or is doing a process which the deck cannot fully recognize (does that make any sense?).
There was definitely some very, very minor interlacing before when playing the 29.97 time line, but this is something else. Something way more extreme. We’ve been working on this film for over a year so this is a new occurance that happened just when we updated version.
Any other ideas or anyone else see this with a dv deck/cam on fcp 6?
