October 12, 2009 at 8:26 pm in reply to: FCP asking for Serial Number AFTER i’ve installed new HDtry just deleting the “System ID” first.
With FCp closed, delete “/Library/Application Support/ProApps/Final Cut Studio System ID”
You will then be prompted to enter all your info again when you restart FCP.
Give it try before doing anything time consuming.

>>Are you listening AJA?
Kevin, I’m not sure how long you have personally dealt with AJA, but
The IO HD works perfectly on 10.5 with FCP 6 and has for quite some time.
As far as them “listening”, they do all the time and provide excellent customer
service.FCP 7 is not ready for prime time, and 10.6 is not even compatible with our XDCAM
software, so please give blame where blame is due (hint.. APPLE).We are now a month in and they have not addressed many things, such as critical
problems with Color and many driver issues. Thanks

>>I think you mean Will don’t you Bouke? I don’t recall mentioning Avid codecs.
Come on Andy, take one for the team! 🙂
Actually I hadn’t noticed a gamma issue going from UC 10bit to Avid DV50, but
I was looking at Avid file in another facility, so it is possible. -

Sounds like you will need a lot of storage, and with all that solid state media
I’d make a couple copies. How are you managing all the clips? You may want to plan out a media mgt. system
such as CatDV or Final Cut Server. Put this on a server (such as a xServe) that you
will not be editing on with lots of directly connected fiber or similar storage.
Being able to keyword search all your assets will save time, and more importantly,
save your behind in a crunch. -
Not sure about FCP7, but going from 4 core to 8 core 3.0ghz greatly
decreased Studio 2 Compressor render times and After Effects CS3
render times upwards to 40%. -
My buddy is selling his Sachtler DV6 SB, it balances the EX3 great, so I’m sure the EX1 would be fine.
It is in excellent shape. -

July 25, 2009 at 3:54 am in reply to: FCPSII on repaired computer can’t recognize serial Number!FCP uses the MAC Address as the “Hardware Lock” ID. Since your logic
board was replaced so was your network card with the MAC address. You can delete the FCP system ID and when you start FCP again you can
enter the serial number(s) like it’s a new install.Obviously you need to track down your license first.

July 23, 2009 at 3:59 pm in reply to: FCS3: new features vs. more refinement, missing the boat on integrationMy heart has been sold on Apple for awhile, but if they don’t fix
a bunch of stuff under the hood in FCS with Snow Leopard and
an additional update this year then I’m looking elsewhere. They have just made things real easy for the Adobe CS5 crew.
