  • FCPSII on repaired computer can’t recognize serial Number!

Hi, guys, Apple Computer Co people are total heros in my eyes because they just completely repaired my computer on their dime when my 2004 G-5 dual 2.5 CPUs had the classic liquid cooling system failure where it floods and destroys the power supply and the main logic board and basically the entire computer. BUT the system – after being restored to function by the good folks at Santa Monica, California Mac Mall – does not recognize the serial number of my FCPII upgrade and I don’t have access to the original serial number. I’ve faithfully bought new versions since I started. All my other softwares seem to be OK and function normally like MS Office for Mac, etc. What to do? Help! Thanks.

Yeah… if you get a new logic board this happens.

If you purchased this legally, just call Apple and they will help you sort it out. If you registered your purchase you should not have any problem.

FCP uses the MAC Address as the “Hardware Lock” ID. Since your logic
board was replaced so was your network card with the MAC address.

You can delete the FCP system ID and when you start FCP again you can
enter the serial number(s) like it’s a new install.

Obviously you need to track down your license first.

Thats why I said call Apple. If he registered, they can give it to him.

Sorry John, guess it would help if I actually read the previous posts first. 🙂
