Hmmm…
A lot of “what if’s” and “maybe’s” in there so…it’s hard to say.
Theoretically, IF you got yourself a clip of video from your P2 media as a QuickTime movie in the DV/DVCPro/DVCProHD codec from one of the Avid systems and IF you had a compatible copy of the DV/DVCPro/DVCProHD codec.component installed in the QuickTime Library on the Media 100 i machine, then Media 100 i should be able to import that media.
This isn’t something we’ve tested (and frankly, we just can’t test it) so I really can’t say if it will work. You may also run into what some call “version-itis”. Depending on what version of OS/QT/Codecs/etc the Avid systems are running, it’s entirely possible that the movies still won’t be compatible with the version of the codecs needed for Tiger and QT 7.1.3 (which was the last “official” version for Media 100 i).
I CAN tell you for sure that as of v11.6 (latest is 12.7.1), the new Media 100 systems (including the software only Producer) can import directly from your P2 media.

Hey Max,
Could you please paste the the link to the post that answered your question?
Thanks,

No shame in that, it happens to us all.
If anyone reading this can honestly say it hasn’t happened to them, then they are spending too much time reading posts about editing and not enough time actually editing!

Thanks guys, these few posts have been VERY helpful already.
Maybe when everyone gets back from their summer vacations we can get some more!

C’mon now…what was the problem?
Don’t be shy…we’re all friends here (well, most of us).

Hi Bruce,
The fader is a Red Herring, ignore it. It’s always stuck at the the bottom when digitizing. You only noticed it today ’cause you’re having trouble getting audio in. So…why are you having trouble getting audio in?
– Are there yellow “lights” in the Edit Suite next to CH-1/L and CH-2/R?
– Check your Hardware Prefs, are they set to DV-In for audio when you really want Analog? vice-versa?
– Check the rocker switch on the Junction Box.
– Check your cabling.
– Try creating a brand new Project. If that works, bring any Programs and Bins into the new Project and work from there.~Wick

Hey Joe,
Exactly what SATA equipment have you used or this? I recall back when I was on the Tech Support phones full-time that I would talk to users having troubles that ended up leading to their SATA card/drive setup.
Now, of course, people only call Tech Support when something is NOT working and that doesn’t that some setups don’t work just fine as you have found. So, please share with the rest of the class.

Hey Marc,
Can you be more specific about the 16:9 vs 4:3 problem?
I’d like to try to reproduce it here and (if we can) make it go away.

Hi Everyone,
Looks there was something lurking in there that was crashing a bunch of people’s systems. Oddly enough, we never did reproduce the crashes here, but we were able to make them go away for a few customers who were kind enough to play Guinea Pig for us (you know who you are, and Thank You). So…
There should be an update available tomorrow for download. I’ll post again when it’s good to go.

Hi Chris,
The softness you’re describing is concerning and we’re looking into it. However, your post states you’ve got a G5. If that’s so, are you using an HDx card? If you are, then capturing via HD-SDI and down-converting during acquire is definitely the best way to ensure image quality. The scalers on those cards are a big part of the reason that we couldn’t afford to make them anymore!
