  • Hey Chris,

Funny that you and I were writing at the same time. And, yes, I was writing about you.

  • Hi Robert,

I’ve recently spoken to a couple of customers using Canopus boxes.
    https://desktop.thomsongrassvalley.com/products/videoconversion.php
One was using the ADVC110 and another has the ADVC300. Both said they were working fine with M100. As you go higher up the line you get what looks like more substantial build-quality as well as balanced audio. Don’t be tempted by the ADVC55 as it’s a one-way device that goes the wrong way for what you want.

These are not something I’ve ever tested so I can’t speak to them personally, but both of these customers are one’s I’ve worked with for years and I would trust their opinions.

    Hope this is helpful,
    Wick

    Hi Dennis,

It’s Wick, the Product Manager for Media 100. I was just about to send you an email about reverting to QT 7.5 when this new post came up.

In answer to THIS question, I personally have done this procedure on 3 systems running both M100 and FCP with no ill effects to FCP at all.

It sounds like you don’t have a SCSI card since you’re using the FireWire drives.

The FireWire drives do bring up another possibility though….

How many Media 100 cards do you have? There are systems out there that have two full sized cards (either one or both may also have a smaller daughter card). One card is a must. It’s the one that the analog junction box is connected to (the one with composite, component and s-video ins and outs). The other card (if you have one) is a real-time effects card. It offers a real performance boost for many transitions and wipes but the truth is that most users will never miss it. So, to my point…

IF you’ve got a real-time effects card, try taking it out and see if your problem magically goes away.

If you DON’T have a real-time effects card, then it’s back to the drawing board.

    Hmmm…

What else is different between M100 and the Apple apps?

The only obvious differences that pop out at me are the facts that Media 100 MUST use the Media 100 i codec and it MUST use the board.

What sort of external drives are you using? If they use a host adapter card, what is the order of PCI cards in your Mac? There ‘could’ be some sort of PCI-slot conflict going on.

One more line of questioning. When you went up to v8.2.3a, did you also upgrade your Mac OS? Was it a big jump? If you have a SCSI card, did you update drivers and/or firmware for that as well?

This sounds like unhappy or tired formatting on your media drive(s).

    – What are you using for media drives?
    – Have you tried other drives?
    – How about running a test on the internal system drive?

    Hi guys,

I just tried this with v13 and I’m not seeing it.

Can you provide more details on Project/Program settings and perhaps send a screenshot to support@media100.com?

    Thanks,
    Wick

That behavior and the error message definitely suggests corrupted media files.

You might want to try the video files in QuickTime player. That may make it clear whether it’s just a few of them or all of them. If it doesn’t appear to be all of them, you may have some luck creating a new Project and a new Bin then dragging and dropping the “good” media files into the Bin one at a time.

    Hi Peter,

This is actually something that I’ve been working on with one of our Engineers for about a week now. We’re pretty sure that we’ve got a handle on it and are very close to a fix but I would love it if you could zip up and send me your Program so that I can see if there’s anything unique in there that we’ve missed.

Please send it to with my name, Wick, in the subject line.

    Thanks,

    Hi Fermin,

I asked one of my engineers to take a look at your error information and he said that the application is reaching “end of file”.

What this means to you and me is that there is likely at least one corrupt file at play. This brings me back to Floh’s idea about wrapping up the files in some sort of container (either zip or dmg) before moving them to the new system. Have you tried this yet?
