  • Reverting to QT 7.5

Posted by Dennis Dean on October 31, 2008 at 6:31 pm

I’m about to revert to QT 7.5 – having discovered the issue of incompatibility yesterday when I tried to import a finished (legacy) Media 100 video into Compressor.

Since I’m also using Final Cut Studio – is anyone also using both systems and know whether I can revert to 7.5 safely without mucking up Final Cut?

    Thanks

    Hi Dennis,

It’s Wick, the Product Manager for Media 100. I was just about to send you an email about reverting to QT 7.5 when this new post came up.

In answer to THIS question, I personally have done this procedure on 3 systems running both M100 and FCP with no ill effects to FCP at all.

Wick – thanks VERY much for the information – both emails –

Wasn’t video simpler when it was all analog?

Well – guess I’m dating myself.

Off to purchase Pacifist and have at it.

Again – thanks – you guys have been and always will be great –

    Dennis

Actually Dennis it was simpler when it was 16 & 35mm film. You could see and feel the media, actually physically cut it and lay your tracks of pictures and sound. That was editing and it only seems like yesterday when we did it, and we got quality that only today’s HD approaches.

Michael – You’re right. I remember when my dream was to work on a six plate Steenbeck.
    Ahh, the days.

I never made it to a Steenbeck, had to ‘cut to music’ by hand winding a 4 gang picsync!
