    I followed your suggestion. It actually seemed to be working as it did it’s thing on this large file over the course of a couple of hours, but in the end it failed to repair the file.

    Regarding file size, I do recall seeing it as an 861 mb file, perhaps when it was in its AVCHD state in the cam, before it transferred into its unusable 32 gb state.

    Anyway, tks for your attempt to help me.

    Yes, I jumped the gun moving from my PD-150 to the HXR-NX5U and just assuming I could point, shoot, and capture/transfer. Not too smart. Now I’m left with a “.mov” file that I cannot seem to open with Quicktime Player, FCP, HandBrake, vlc, or VoltaicHD, a file that shows as a 32.8 gb file in my capture scratch, a file that Quicktime Player says: “The file is not a movie file”. There must be some way to open this file. Dang!

    oops, it looks like I updated to 7.0.3 the day after transferring this clip. And I formatted the card that contained the footage. Any way to salvage the footage from the unrecognized .mov file?

    I did have 7.0.3 installed. I videoed using1080/60i FH recording format.
