Thanks to those who were trying to help me trouble shoot. What happened was that I made a new SD sequence, dropped my multiclips into the new timeline, and then I tried to change the format of the sequence to anamorphic. The timeline changed but the footage didn’t. I’ve found that you should change the sequence settings before dropping your clips in. Thanks for everyone’s help!

There were two cameras. One was up near the stage and the other was locked down in the back of the venue. People were walking in front of the camera all night. So, in order to avoid seeing them I zoomed in to the band at certain points throughout the edit. I’m not sure why they shot it in 24p. I’ll try using the 24p SD timeline though. Thanks!

“1920 x 1080 is not anamorphic. Did you collapse the multiclip when you were done with the edit?”

Nope wasn’t anamorphic till it entered the new timeline at 720×486. Without clicking anamorphic on the sequence the footage is squeezed even more. When I finished with the multiclip edits I rendered them. After rendering FCP wouldn’t allow me to go back and edit in multiclip. So, to answer your question yes.

I tried to remove attributes and clicked distort. It ended up stretching the footage instead of squeezing.

The reason I placed the footage into an SD timeline was to have some extra control over the footage by being able to pan and zoom. Anyway, ultimately my edit was polished in the SD timeline and I would be losing a lot of edit/ motiongraphics time if I go back and cut in the HD timeline. Thanks for the suggestion though, lesson learned.

I’m sending it to Compressor using 90min best settings/quality 16:9 and then Authorizing in DVD Studio Pro 16:9 letterbox.

I quickly found that it caused some problems copying and pasting, so I dragged the footage.
