No, actually if you read about it, Light Iron developed the color science. Red makes the sensor and the RAW data. There are a bunch of articles you can read on line. It’s very interesting how they developed it.

It’s the lens. It’s a good lens but much cheaper in the L series Canon arsenal. I’m not an expert in lenses, but I think it has to do with all the glass and as you zoom, with a small aperture you’re magnifying that light loss. I don’t see this with my 70-200 IS 2.8L or the 16-35 2.8L.

The only advantage is if you want to keep anything you add to the cut in 10bit– dissolves, titles, graphics, color correction so there is actually an advantage, as it will prevent further banding if there is any in the h.264.

First, never run media on the system drive. What kind of RAID are you using? You need a sustained transfer speed not just a single fast drive. The speed test may be showing you a burst of speed, but it has to be a sustained speed, hence a RAID.
