So the HUD animation (digital squares graphics) has just been made individually by masking and tweaking shapes movement and put in the 3d space?Absolutely right Ben. You can also create the HUD elements in Illustrator(vector graphics will always be beneficial) or Photoshop.

You can use Time-Reverse Layer feature to do so. Precompose your particular layer and then press ” Cntrl/Cmnd + Alt/optn + R ” .

I agree with you but GPU is mainly used for Ray Tracing feature and some other few features
GPU (CUDA, OpenGL) features in After Effects. It would not improve the Overall performance of AE.

How do you do to make the particles emit towards the layer?
Would you make it more clear?

It seems that the whole scene is created in 3D and then final composting is done to match the camera angles. Its just a guess so I would suggest you to go with John.

The graphics that come at 00:10 are HUD Animation. None of the Trapcode plugin is required. You can animate the manually.
Search for HUD animation tutorial on YouTube and AEtuts, there are many.
The lines on floor seems to be made from Beam Effect(Effects>Generate>Beam).

Have you updated the CS6 version? The latest version has an adjustment for this bug.
Is multiprocessing enabled?
Also check that the RAM preview is not set to “From current time”.
If the CTI is at the last frame and you hit Num 0, AE gives this error.

Even by checking continuously rasterize, the quality of the animations isn’t as good as the original.
I tried the same and the quality was retained as it should be.
Also I didn’t find any advantage of nesting comps in this way.
I just tripled my render time.
