I agree with both John and Nigel, however, just to be sure, usually a license specifies how many computers you can install a program on. Many programs allow up to 2 computers. Truth be told, Vegas probably isn’t one of those programs, but it’s worth checking it out on their website just go be sure.

And the plot thickens…..

So I tried rendering to mpeg-2, using the SD DVD architect 24p widescreen setting, and it rendered out just fine.

So it looks like whatever issues I’m having only happen when I try to render out to HD.

Yes an No.

Yes – it did fix the current problem of the muzzle flares not lining up properly.

No – sure enough, now a new problem showed up in this render. 3 full clips did not render out. The audio is there, but the screen goes black for a few seconds.

I double checked the project to make sure everything was fine, and it was. I shut down Vegas & rebooted. Rendered another file.

Once again, a completely different part of the final render went completely blank. The audio is there, but no video.

So I’m back to my original issue, I fix one problem, render out, only to find a new problem. These last 2 problems seem to be un-related to any FX clips.

I’m seriously at a loss.

I’m thinking about taking my last 2 renders and combining them on a new timeline using the sections that worked and doing a final render from there, but I will be recompressing video that has already been compressed.

I’m really not sure what to do.

Ok, cool, That actually makes a lot of sense. When these glitches first started happening, the frame rate conversion crossed my mind, but for some reason I dismissed it thinking it must be something else.

I’m going to convert the fx clips to 24 like you suggested and it sounds like everything should straighten our.

Thanks for the quick reply and trying to help me out.

Yes, the resolutions are different as well.  The fx clips are in 720p.

It was my understanding that Vegas was designed to be able to handle different frame rates and resolutions in the same project and on the same Time line.  Based on your response, it sounds like this is incorrect.

My project settings are set to match the 1080 AVCHD footage.  Again, I was under the impression that in Vegas your project settings have no effect on the rendering settings.

The 59.96 is being used for a few slo-motion shots.  There are only a few of these, and these shots have actually been rendering out perfectly.  The problems keep appearing where i have layered a 29.97fps vfx shot over a 24fps AVCHD shot.  

It’s as if someone went into the Pan/Crop window and moved all my keyframes around.
