    Hi Richard,

I can only speak as of a couple years ago when I tried last, but HDMI wasn’t supported then, and I’m pretty sure it isn’t supported today.

The Black Magic studio 2 card, for example, supports HDMI recording with its own software/hardware, but Onlocation will only see Firewire inputs.

If you really wanted to spend $700.00 bucks, you could get an HDMI to Firewire converter. The only problem is that it’s HDV, and you would neither get true realtime preview, nor lossless capture.

    Jack,

If it was a Mac version, you wouldn’t be able to install it.

This is the page you should be looking at, making sure that the popup menu is set to Windows

Yes, although it depends on the quality of the footage. Downscaling does reduce quality as well, so if you have only a few shots at 720p, upscale them and do a quick test. Either way, make sure you check “max render quality”, it is specific to scaling quality.

From your post, it seemed that most of your footage was 1080 except for the slow motion. If you do have a lot of 720P footage, then yes, keeping everything at 720 would be best.

    Hi Hunter,

An option is available in the CS5 preferences to leave RAM for other programs, I don’t remember it being available in CS4. Premiere should use all the RAM that’s available to it. I have 16 gigs and all of it gets used with multithreading enabled.

You haven’t really mentioned the system you are working on, 32bit (limited to 4 Gigs) /64 bit, Mac / PC.

    Hi Matthew,

Try deleting your media cache folder. The location is set in your preferences.

    Hi Jack,

There is a PC version and it works fine as far as I’ve seen, I had a trial version a while back. Where did you download the file from?

You can either dowscale or upscale, I would keep what you have the most of at their native resolution. As for the 60p footage, you can bring it in and interpret it as 24p and you’ll get smooth slow motion.

    Hi Wolf,

You can create 2 tracks, and place a garbage matte on the top one where Ultra key will be applied.
