  • How do I ultrakey only part of the frame

Posted by Wolf Wildwood on September 3, 2011 at 8:41 am

    Gday.
I am using a ‘greenscreen’ by having a photoshop page open on a large monitor in the background of my shot.
However, the Cintiq in front of the monitor reflects the green from the monitor so that when ultrakey is applied it also selects the reflection in the Cintiq screen.
How can I apportion only part of the screen to ultrakey?
    Is this possible?
    Thanks.

    Hi Wolf,

You can create 2 tracks, and place a garbage matte on the top one where Ultra key will be applied.

Depending on the complexity of the shape of the garbage matte and how much movement is in the shot, you might want to do your keying in After Effects.

    Gday.
Thanks very much for your fast response. Your suggestion not only worked but opened up ideas on how to correct some other visual discrepancies.
    Greatly appreciated.
