Hi Kyle,
I don’t think you’ll find anyone recommending iPads for a any shoot. You have issues with audio input, video noise, monitoring, and potential app crashes. Also, DSLR lenses on the iPad would likely cut so much light that it would not be usable indoors unless you had a lot of bright soft lighting. I would stick to video cameras for this.

I would check Reelsteady. Not exactly cheap, but it might do the job, at least worth checking the trial.

You are removing the dissolves inside the nested layers and applying them to the new single layer, correct?

Hi Adam,
Whenever you are dissolving with more than one layer, you should always nest or you will see this kind of issue. This is the same with all layer based software.

Possibly, there are a few repair tools out there.
I would try VLC first, it has a built-in index repair tool that should pop up when opening the file.

You’d be surpised Duke. 1080i is still most of what you’ll find in the broadcast world where everything goes through SDI.
Even $60,000+ camera often still output 1080i only.

Hi Duke,
Yep, the 24P cinematic looks is more of an indie filmmaker tale and the fact that camera companies used to market as a novelty didn’t help.
You certainly could export at 24P, you’ll just be dropping frames.
Lighting and grading are really what you are after if you want that cinematic look.

Hi Duke,
I’m pretty sure that the HDMI output is 1080P 29.97 only on the D5500, so that would explain why you are only able to record at that rate.
