  • It seems that command isn’t included in script Roland posted. Maybe it only lists commands that has a key binding from the start? This one is brand new. I think I have to something like this: https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/2/998634 But I have no idea what to write!

    Dave: I often use Region of Interest and Trim comp to region of interest to crop comps. It becomes somewhat like Photoshops crop tool. So your tip doesn’t really apply.

    Are you using adjustment layers? Are you making sure these cover the whole frame?

    I had some problems when rendering to both DNxHD and Avid Meriden. Getting corrupt frames, duplicated frames and failed renders.

    Nowadays I always render my compositions as an image-sequence, and then compress it in another program. This way I never had any problems. And if the render fails it can continue from where i t left off.

    Last time I delivered in DNxHD, I imported the image sequence into Media Composer as a DNxHD and exported it as Same as Source. But you could also use a program like Media Encoder.

    Experimenting to get a desired look is never a bad idea. Many effects that gives certain looks are so easily spotted by other people who have used the software. Especially CC light sweep is something that myself is quite tired of seeing.
    So trying to do something yourself is never a bad idea if you want a unique result!
    Good luck.

    Looks like you have depth of field turned on? Disable it in the camera options and the blur should disappear!

    If you want the matte to bleed/feather, just add a bit of fast blur to the matte-layer. That will make it feather outside of it’s original edges.

    Weird. You have the stroke set to 100 px though.
    Anyways, do it this way then:
    Type the text with no stroke. Then add a stroke by right clicking on the text in the timeline – selecting layer styles – choosing Stroke.

    There is a menu in the Character tab where you can choose “Fill over stroke” and your stroke won’t overlap your fill.

    You could also create a text without stroke, and add a Layer Style stroke instead. It gives a little bit different result.

    No problem!

    If you want to make the bars move to the music, you can do that too.

    Put your song into the timeline. With it selected, go up in the menu Animation – Select Keyframe assistant and press Convert audio to keyframes

    You will now get a Null, called Audio Amplitude. If you twirl it down you got your audio amplitude in keyframes there.

    Twirl down the scale property of your Bars-layer. (I think both the wiggle transform scale and the normal layer scale would work. Play around!)

    On the scale property, put this expression:
    temp = thisComp.layer(“Audio Amplitude”).effect(“Both Channels”)(“Slider”);
    [value[0], temp];

    And it will move to your beat.

    You could also use the plugin Trapcode Soundkeys. It would give a better result, but it costs money.

    Hi!
    This is easily done with shape layers. Shape layers is a pretty overlooked feature of After Effects. But very powerful.

    I put together a project file for you: https://www.tornfors.se/other/waveform_cs5.aep

    I created a shape layer containing a single rectangle, using the rectangle tool. Then i added some properties to the shape layer. These properties can be found by twirling down the shape layer and pressing the arrow with the word “Add:” next to it.

    I added a “repeater”, which just repeats the rectangle to the required amount. I also added “wiggle transform”, set to only wiggle the scale.
    This way it wiggles the scale of each repeated instance of the shape layer independently, creating the waveform-like effect.

    The background grid is also made with shape layers.

    A great site for learning more about shape layers is Mattrunks. This tutorial is a good starting point. https://www.mattrunks.com/en/tutorials/after-effects/shape-layers-sparks
